Bodily maps of emotions of those with chronic pain are dampened compared to healthy pain-free folks.

Basically, with chronic pain, there are more areas of the brain dedicated to "seeing danger," and LESS areas attuned to things like touch or even PLEASURE.

There is DECREASED mind-body connection and awareness.
